Winners announced for Ottawa Book Awards
Posted Nov 6, 2009 By EMC NewsEMC News Four local writers have been announced as winners of the City of Ottawa's prestigious book awards.
Presented annually for the past 24 years, the awards ceremony took place Oct. 20 at Library and Archives Canada as part of the International Writers Festival.
The Ottawa Book Awards celebrates the top two English books published in the previous year, while the Prix du livre d'Ottawa recognizes the top two French books. Each award is worth $7,500 and is presented for literary excellence in the categories of fiction and non-fiction.
OTTAWA BOOK AWARD WINNERS:
Fiction: Andrew Steinmetz, Eva's Threepenny Theatre (Gaspereau Press)
Non-fiction: Kerry Pither, Dark Days: The Story of Four Canadians Tortured in the Name of Fighting Terror (Penguin Group Canada)
PRIX DU LIVRE D'OTTAWA WINNERS:
Fiction: Margaret Michèle Cook, Chronos à sa table de travail (Les Éditions L'Interligne)
Non-Fiction: Maurice Henrie, Esprit de sel (Les Éditions Prise de parole)
